The Nebraska Rural Electric Association Credit Union has as its mission the responsibility for providing an efficient, effective, and well-managed financial institution that meets the needs of its membership.  In order to accomplish this mission, the The Nebraska Rural Electric Association Credit Union will continue a sound yet progressive asset management strategy and provide new and improved financial services to current and future members through membership input and management initiatives.

History and Structure

The Nebraska Rural Electric Association Credit Union, also known as NREA Credit Union, was chartered in 1973. We are located in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the offices of the statewide Nebraska Rural Electric Association, but we have credit union representatives to assist our staff, located in most of the Association’s 34 member Rural Public Power District and Electric Cooperative offices throughout Nebraska and three of the neighboring states.

Membership: Membership is open to all employees and directors of public power districts and electric cooperatives that are members of NREA, as well as to all members of the immediate families of those employees and directors.  The immediate family to include spouses, parents, children, brothers and sisters, step-parents, step-children, mothers and fathers-in-laws, grandparents, and grand-children.

Management: The operation of the NREA Credit Union is under the direct control of a five-member board of directors elected by the membership at the Credit Union’s annual meeting. All members are encouraged to participate in the annual meeting. (The credit union’s by-laws are available upon request to any member.)
